OUR beloved Gurdev Kaur Rakhra departed this world on November 21, 2021, at the age of 76 years.  Born in village Har Raipur, Bathinda, Punjab, India, she arrived in Canada in 1971 and married Kalwant Singh.  They settled and raised their family in Port Alberni, BC, where they lived for 33 years.

Gurdev Kaur is survived by her husband Kalwant Singh, sons Sukhjit Singh (Rapinder Kaur) and Navdeep Singh (Gurpreet Kaur), and grandchildren Amrit Kaur, Simrit Kaur, Sehij Singh, and Veer Singh.

Mom lived a fulfilling and joyful life. She was dedicated to her family, devoted to her faith and had a passion for cooking. Mom lived with courage, strength and a spirit of chardi kala (eternal optimism and joy).  She showed kindness and warmth to all, meeting everyone with a smile and sharing her wisdom.

The memorial service will be at Riverside Funeral Home at 10 a m. on December 1 followed by the Antim Ardas at Gurdwara Sahib Khalsa Diwan Society Ross Street.
