Permit Required To Purchase & Use Fireworks In Vancouver

Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services would like to remind our citizens that to in order buy and discharge fireworks in the City of Vancouver this Halloween, you must be 19 years of age or older and hold a valid permit.

•Permits are free of charge and can be obtained by successfully completing an online fireworks safety test.

•To write the test, go to vfrs.ca , enter “fireworks permit” in the search engine and follow the directions.

•Fireworks may only be purchased in the City of Vancouver from October 25th to October 31st.

•You must have 2 pieces of valid ID and the fireworks permit with you when purchasing and discharging fireworks.

•Fireworks may only be discharged in the City of Vancouver on October 31st and only on private property.

•Discharging of firecrackers, bottle rockets and roman candles is not permitted.

Fireworks are dangerous explosive items that can burn at over 1000 degrees and have the potential to cause injury and tremendous damage. Please use the utmost of caution when discharging these items.
