Police investigating suspicious fire at New Westminster Tennis Club

THE New Westminster Police Department announced on Friday that it is investigating a suspicious fire that occurred on Thursday, February 20 at approximately 10:15 p.m. at the New Westminster Tennis Club.

The club, which is located in the 300-block of Royal Avenue, was not occupied and sustained extensive damage.

The NWPD Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of this investigation and is working alongside its partners at the New Westminster Fire and Rescue Service.

“We are committed to finding out how it happened,” said Media Relations Officer Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “We’re asking anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and help us piece together the events of that night. Your cooperation could be crucial to our investigation.”

Investigators urge residents and business owners in the immediate area to check their surveillance or dashcam footage, specifically between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., for video evidence that may assist with the investigation.
