Regular SkyTrain service across SkyBridge resumes

THE track issue on the SkyBridge that had been causing delays on the Expo Line since late Monday night has been fixed and regular service is now resuming, TransLink announced at 8:38 p.m. Customers may notice some gaps in service as trains return to regular frequencies.

Crews had identified a failed switch as the cause of the track issue. This led to a SkyTrain being partially dislodged from the tracks on Monday evening. SkyTrain safety protocols were immediately initiated, and the passengers were safely removed from the train within 10 minutes. Crews have since inspected other switches on the system and ensured they are operating safely with no issues, TransLink said on Tuesday.

Extra bus service was put in place between Scott Road and Columbia stations. Customers travelling from Surrey had to transfer to bus service at Scott Road Station to continue their journey. Customers travelling to Surrey had to transfer to bus service at Columbia Station to continue their journey.

A VOICE staff member found the arrangement working smoothly both in the morning and in the evening when they used the system.
