sukhi bathSurrey businessman Sukhi Bath has helped raise $100,000 for typhoon relief in Phillipines.

After helping to organize and sponsor a fundraiser to collect money to aid the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, Bath put in money from his own pocket to bring the grand total up to $100,000, although donations continue to come in after the event. The Friday event at the Grand Taj Banquet Hall in Surrey doubled organizers’ goal of raising $50,000 in donations.

The money will go to the Red Cross, which the federal government has pledged to match dollar for dollar. Bath who spent $23,000 of his own money to host the event said the evening was a tremendous success.

Bath had organised the fundraiser at Grand Taj Banquet Hall in Surrey on Nov 14 and Bath was able to sell 1200 tickets to the aid function.
