THE New Westminster Police Department said on Thursday that it has secured a criminal charge against a person suspected of a bank robbery in New Westminster.

On July 13 at approximately 4 p.m., the New Westminster Police Department received a call reporting an armed robbery at a financial institution in the downtown neighbourhood. Patrol officers, the Traffic Unit, and the Crime Reduction Unit responded immediately and the suspect was quickly identified and safely taken into custody.

Frederick Thrones, 52, of Surrey has been charged with one count of robbery.
