ON Friday, September 1 at 5 p.m., Transit Police officers noticed a vehicle on fire while conducting patrols in the 500 block of 10th Avenue, located on the border of Burnaby and New Westminster.
Officers immediately approached the vehicle to ensure no one was inside and moved all by-standers to a safe distance while they waited for the New West Fire Department to attend.
As a result of the fire, multiple loud explosions could be heard and the fire reached over 30 feet in height, with a cloud of black smoke filling the air.
Transit Police Constable Amanda Steed told The VOICE: “Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident and the fire was extinguished by New West Fire department.”
