YET another business in Surrey’s Payal Business Centre has been targeted.

On Wednesday, four gunmen stole about $10,000 from a money exchange company. They made an unsuccessful attempt to open the safe as well. The owner had injuries to his neck and head.

On Thursday, RK Jewellers was targeted. Well-known Punjabi journalist Gurpreet (Lucky) Sahota posted a video on Twitter showing bullet holes in a lower window of the shop with a Surrey RCMP vehicle parked at the side.

Surrey RCMP responded hours later by stating in a press release that they are investigating shots fired overnight that targeted a Newton business.

On November 23 at 2:07 a.m., Surrey RCMP received a report that a business located in the 8100-block of 128 Street had been shot at. Police attended the scene and located evidence consistent with a shooting. The business was closed at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

Initial information indicates that this was a targeted incident. At this point in the investigation there is no evidence to linking it to the robbery that occurred in the same area on Wednesday morning.

“We are aware that two recent incidents within the same complex raises concerns in our community,” said Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Vanessa Munn. “Our South Community Response Unit has been engaged, will be increasing patrols in the area as well as meeting with local businesses to discuss their concerns.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
