THE Ontario Gurdwaras Committee (OGC), the Ontario Sikhs and Gurdwaras Council (OSGC), and the BC Sikh Gurdwara Council will be holding a joint press conference to highlight the recent targeted terrorist attack on Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan.

The press conference will begin following the bhog (completion) of the Akhand Paath (Sikh prayer service) in memory of the victims of this attack.

Baljinder Singh Bhullar, father of the late Alberta MLA Manmeet Singh Bhullar, will be attending the press conference and will speak with the media regarding the plight of Sikhs in Afghanistan. Furthermore, International Sikh NGO’s will also be in attendance to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan.

Avtar Singh Khalsa, who was killed in the attack, was the only Sikh candidate in the October 20 legislative elections in Jalalabad.

According to various media outlets the current death toll sits at 19 and the Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility. Those killed include community leaders and a Sikh political candidate.
