COVID-19 notification for Vancouver’s Showcase Restaurant and Bar (March 10, 11, 13)

VANCOUVER Coastal Health is notifying people who visited the Showcase Restaurant and Bar (1122 West Hastings Street, Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown‎) about a possible exposure to COVID-19 on March 10, 11 and 13.

A person who has tested positive for COVID-19 worked at the Showcase Restaurant and Bar on those dates between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The person had mild, non-respiratory symptoms of COVID-19 during this time. Public health officials have completed a risk assessment and concluded that the risk to people at the restaurant at the time was low, but VCH says it is making this notification out of an abundance of caution. Any possible exposures were restricted to the restaurant on those specific dates and times. There was no risk to anyone outside of those times or to anyone else who may have visited any other part of the hotel.

The person is now self-isolated and is recovering at home. The case is linked to travel and other known cases which have previously been announced. There is no ongoing risk to the community or at the Showcase Restaurant and Bar.

As a precaution, VCH is advising people who attended the restaurant during those hours to monitor themselves for the following symptoms for 14 days:

· Fever

· Cough

· Shortness of breath

· Sore throat

· Headache

As long as people who visited the restaurant at those times remain healthy and do not develop symptoms, there is no need to self-isolate and they should continue with their usual daily activities. If anyone experiences symptoms, they should self-isolate at home and seek medical care if respiratory symptoms worsen.
