ABBOTSFORD Police officers responded to the intersection of Garden Street and Simon Avenue on Monday at 3:22 p.m. for a reported collision involving a motor vehicle and a cyclist.

At the scene, police identified a 26-year-old male cyclist who appeared to have sustained serious injuries. Medical aid was immediately provided at the scene, and he was transported to hospital for further care and assessment of injuries.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Initial findings show impairment as not being a contributing factor in the crash.

It is undetermined when the intersection will re-open as officers remain at the scene, investigating the crash.
