Police introduce online evidence submission portal for fatal airport shooting

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) and the Richmond RCMP announced on Friday that they are introducing an online evidence submission portal where members of the public can upload videos and photos related to the fatal shooting that occurred at the Vancouver International Airport on May 9.

On May 9 at around 3 p.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a fatal shooting at the Vancouver International Airport outside the international departure area. IHIT took conduct of the investigation and has been working in partnership with the Richmond RCMP to advance the case.

Shortly after leaving the airport, a shot was fired from a maroon Honda Pilot at a marked police car striking the windshield. It was last seen in the area of Sea Island Way and Garden City Road.

Just before 3:30 p.m., the Honda Pilot was discovered on fire in an alleyway near the 9700-block of Princess Drive in Surrey.

Anyone with dash cam video, other video surveillance footage and/or photos from any of the aforementioned locations is urged to visit the website. Click here to be redirected to the evidence submission portal website.

If you experience any difficulty with the website, call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-4448 and leave your contact information so that an investigator can assist you with troubleshooting the problem.
