Registration and participation in International Day of Yoga 2022 in Surrey

THE Consulate General of India in Vancouver in collaboration with Hindu Vedic Cultural Society Surrey is celebrating the International Day of Yoga 2022 on Sunday, June 19. The event will be held at Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, 8321 140 Street, Surrey, from 9 to 11 a.m. Renowned teachers / practitioners of Indian origin will host the yoga sessions during the celebration.

The Consulate General invites the Diaspora and their children, Indo-Canadians and Canadians to participate in the celebration of International Day of Yoga.

The Consulate General will provide t-shirts and yoga mats to 150 participants who will register themselves first. At the end of the yoga sessions, light refreshment will also be served to the participants.

The United Nations General Assembly in a resolution passed on December 11, 2014, declared June 21 as the “International Day of Yoga” on a proposal made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As man as 177 member countries, including Canada, supported the resolution.  Since then, the International Day of Yoga is celebrated every year on June 21 not only in India but all across the world.
