Single vehicle collision in Maple Ridge results in serious injuries

RIDGE Meadows RCMP are seeking witnesses after a single vehicle collision resulted in serious injuries on Saturday night.

On January 13 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP were notified by Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) members on patrol of a motor vehicle incident in the 22600-block of Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge. Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline officers arrived at scene and observed a silver Honda Civic that had collided with a utility pole. Police determined that the vehicle was traveling eastbound before going off road and crashing into the utility pole.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries while the passenger sustained severe injuries. Both were transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS). Impairment is believed to be a contributing factor at this time.

Ridge Meadows RCMP Investigational Support Team (IST) and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) also attended the scene. Dewdney Trunk Road was closed between Edge Street and 227 Street for several hours after the collision.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.

Ridge Meadows RCMP is still seeking witnesses, specifically those who may have left the scene of the collision before speaking to police.
