THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team on Friday identified the victim of the June 19 homicide near 65B Avenue and 131st Street in Newton as Mandeepak “Deepak” Chahal, 22. He was not known to police.

IHIT Sgt. Bari Emam said: “Our investigators can confirm that this was not a gang or drug related incident. We are still in the process of confirming a motive for this incident and the investigation continues.”

He was reportedly stabbed to death. Four South Asians were reportedly arrested by police. But no names have been released.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating.

The fight took place near St. Bernadette Elementary School.
