B.C. Liberals: Where are NDP MLAs on safe communities?

THE B.C. Liberals said on Tuesday that as residents in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood take to the street to protest a lack of action to keep their community safe, John Horgan’s NDP candidates are maintaining their vow of silence.

“This is a pattern we’ve seen from the NDP on this issue that stretches from Maple Ridge to Nanaimo to Kamloops,” said BC Liberal candidate Cheryl Ashlie. “Those NDP MLAs have stood silently for three years and they’re still keeping mum on the issues.”

Without community consultation, the NDP have chosen to warehouse people in need and then not provide proper support. As well, they have allowed tent cities to flourish in communities, said the B.C. Liberals.

“Today’s action in Vancouver amounts to a strike by residents – they’ve had enough and are tired. I hear it from people in Vancouver-False Creek,” said BC Liberal candidate Sam Sullivan. “People are feeling desperate and the NDP has abandoned them to deal with these issues on their own and that’s simply wrong.”

BC Liberals said they have a plan to keep communities and provide supports for those in need and in the coming days they will unveil their plan.
