Police cannot accept cash donations; a thank you note would suffice

NORTH Vancouver RCMP on Thursday thanked the anonymous person (or persons) who has been mailing letters with money inside to their detachment, saying, “Your generosity and gratitude towards the North Vancouver RCMP have been recognized by our staff.”

North Vancouver RCMP have received three thank you letters over a three-week period. But they point out that while police are thankful for the gesture, they cannot accept cash donations. Instead, the money will be turned over to the Receiver General for Canada.

North Vancouver RCMP recommend that members of the public donate to local charities that assist those in need.

“If you would like to show support to your local RCMP detachment, members of the public can email us or write a simple thank you note,” they say.
