Three arrested for Abbotsford Hit and Run

Abbotsford – Sunday night three youths attended the Abbotsford Police Department to surrender themselves in relation to the Hit and Run incident. The three teenaged boys were all in the company of their parents. The Abbotsford Police will be recommending charges of Assault against the two passengers and a charge of Hit and Run Causing Bodily Harm against the driver. The Dodge pick-up truck involved in the collision has been seized.

The Abbotsford Police would like to thank the public and the media for drawing attention to this terrible incident. It clearly influenced the youths’ decision to come forward.

Earlier, on Saturday the Abbotsford Police Department was called to a pedestrian struck at the intersection of George Ferguson Way and Gladwin Road. Upon arrival, APD Patrol Division officers located a 17 year old girl who had been run over by a vehicle that fled immediately after the collision.

Prior to the collision, three teenaged friends were seated at a bus stop bench when a white pick-up truck with silver rims approached their position eastbound on George Ferguson Way. The pick-up truck slowed and one or both of the Caucasian occupants began throwing eggs at the group. The 17 year old walked toward the truck to determine why the driver and passenger were doing this. The girl was run over when the truck accelerated. The vehicle continued despite the impact and injury to the victim.

The girl was transported to hospital and received treatment for fractures to both legs. Several witnesses from neighbouring residences were interviewed and the APD have begun gathering forensic and video evidence.
