BROTHERS Keeper’s gang member, Amandeep Singh Kang, 31, has entered a guilty plea from a 2019 Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – B.C. (CFSEU-BC) investigation along with two other individuals that were charged with a total of over 25 criminal offences.
In 2019, CFSEU-BC led the creation of a task force that aimed in targeting the emerging gang known as, the “Brothers Keepers.” CFSEU-BC’s goal was to disrupt and suppress the violent gang activity led by this specific criminal organization by collaborating with its policing partners in sharing intelligence and investigative avenues. Through these efforts, CFSEU-BC determined that the Brothers Keepers had spread across British Columbia and expanded their criminal networks through Alberta and Ontario.
On November 3, 2021, charges were approved against the following six individuals: Amandeep Singh Kang, Andrew Miguel Best, Dylan Robert Ferris, Jannat Bibi Nadeem, Moshmem Khanun Khan, and Tanisha Bhatti.
On October 30, 2023, Kang appeared in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver and pleaded guilty to commission of an offence for a criminal organization, and conspiracy to drug trafficking. Kang will be sentenced on January 10, 2024.
Two additional individuals have pleaded guilty:
• On August 18, 2022, Best pleaded guilty to drug trafficking, and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Best was sentenced to five years
• On December 21, 2022, Khan pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and was sentenced to a conditional sentence order
• Ferris and Nadeem are currently awaiting the judicial process.
“The CFSEU-BC continuously collaborates with our policing partners focused on our collective efforts to reduce gang-related violence in our communities,” said Inspector Joel Hussey, Acting Deputy Operations Officer for CFSEU-BC, on Wednesday. “The Brothers Keepers task force and these resulting convictions is an example of CFSEU-BC’s ability to disrupt and impact an extremely violent organized crime group that threatens the safety of our communities.”
