City of Abbotsford’s evacuation order and alerts (Monday night update)

AN Evacuation Order has been issued by the City of Abbotsford Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) due to the potential danger to life and health for the following areas:

  • Sumas Prairie: Sumas Mountain and Old Yale Road to the North, The United States Border to the South, The Sumas River Dyck to the East, Sumas Way to the West

Evacuation Alerts:
Evacuation Alerts have been issued by the City of Abbotsford Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) for the following areas:

Localized Flooding and Mudslides
The City of Abbotsford is currently experiencing heavy rainfall that has resulted in several localized emergencies within the City. Various small mud slides and localized flooding have occurred in many areas within the City. Currently no injuries have been reported. All City resources are currently engaged in mitigating these emergencies including Abbotsford Police, Fire Rescue, Engineering and Public works.

Call 911 to report any flooding or mudslide emergencies.

Sandbags: Abbotsford residents requiring sand & sandbags can go to the City of Abbotsford Works Yard located at 31739 King Rd. Sand and bags are located outside the main gates. Please bring a shovel with you to fill the bags.

Reception Centre for Displaced Residents
The City of Abbotsford’s Emergency Support Services (ESS) has set-up a Reception Centre located at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre (ARC), 2499 McMillan Road, for any residents displaced due to the flooding and/or landslide events currently occurring in the City. If you are unable to return home or have been evacuated from your home you can go to the Abbotsford Recreation Centre for assistance and shelter.

  • Majuba Hill
  • Old Clayburn Road and Mount Blanchard Drive
  • Old Yale Road – Marion to Arnold
  • Straiton Road – Clayburn to Willet

Roads Closed Due to Flooding:

  • 0 Ave – Langley to Ross Road
  • 2nd Avenue
  • Bateman Road (Hwy 11 – Wright)
  • Bates Road
  • Boundary and No. 5
  • Clayburn
  • Gladwin Road south of King Road
  • Gladys underpass
  • Lonzo Road and Vedder Way
  • McCallum Road at Industrial
  • North Parallel at Eldridge
  • South Fraser Way at Fishtrap
  • South Parallel at Cole and Whatcom East Lefeuvre Road
  • Sumas Mountain at Page Road
  • Townshipine and Bell
  • Valley Road
  • Vye Road East off Hwy 11
  • Vye Road and Whatcom Road
  • Vye Road at Bowman Road
  • Willet Road

Roads Re-opened:

  • Dawson and Emerson
  • Huntingdon Road and Lefeuvre Road

Parks Closed Due to Flooding:

  • Clayburn Creek Trail
  • Hougen Park on Cole Road
  • Macdonald Park on No. 3 Road
  • Matsqui Park on Riverside Road
  • McKee Creek Park Trail
  • Stoney Creek Trail
  • Willband Park on Bateman Road

The City advises people to avoid these areas if possible. Do not attempt to travel past any of these closures. If you do not need to leave your home, stay home.
