BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson on Tuesday welcomed Kelowna-West MLA Ben Stewart back in the Liberal Caucus after the conclusion of Elections BC’s review into political contributions that found no wrongdoing:

“Today we received notice from Elections BC that they have completed their review of the issue brought forward by Ben Stewart earlier this summer,” said Wilkinson. “We are happy to welcome Ben back to the BC Liberal Caucus and we thank him for taking the appropriate actions to ensure full cooperation with Elections BC.”

“I’m looking forward to returning to the Legislature this fall with the rest of my BC Liberal colleagues and I thank Elections BC for their thorough and timely review of this issue,” said Stewart. “Thank you as well to my constituents for their support and encouragement, I will continue to work hard to represent them in Victoria.”

Stewart had stepped away from his party’s caucus a few months ago. According to a news report last August, one of Stewart’s staff had complained to Elections B.C. alleging being forced to donate $1,225 on behalf of him to the BC Liberal Party.
